Making the Most of Your Wedding

Congratulations!  You and your significant other have left the dating phase and have entered the wonderful world of the engagement.  This is an exciting time in both of your lives—as well as the lives of your family—and should be relished and enjoyed.  Regardless if you are planning a long engagement or a short one, this is a necessary phase in coupledom and is much more than a stepping stone in your walk down the aisle.  While you and your love are elbow deep in wedding planning, take time to appreciate each other and enjoy your status as an engaged couple.

The first step to wedding planning is to take a deep breath.  There are a variety of problems, issues, and crises that are sure to rise between now and your big day.  Try to keep everything in perspective.  At the end of the day, you will probably not remember the color of table linens, but are sure to remember the emotions and excitement of your journey into matrimony.  Do not become obsessed with details, checklists, or deadlines.  Everything has a knack of falling into place and everyone will have a must better time if you take the planning process one step at a time.

Once you have announced your engagement and shared your good news with friends and family members, the next step is to choose a date.  Many couples choose a date that has special meaning to them or their relationship.  Consider planning your big day on the anniversary of your first date or the day of your engagement.  Whichever day you and your beloved choose as your big day, make the decision together, as it will be a day of special remembrance for the rest of your lives.

After you have chosen a date, begin thinking of those special individuals you want to stand beside you as your wedding party.  Consider siblings, relations, friends, coworkers, or neighbors when making the list of wedding attendants.  You can have as many attendants as you wish—or you can have none at all!  Remember, this is your wedding and should be planned as an event that best represents you and your beloved.

Organization is key to successful wedding planning and we built this site to help you do that.  We have put together all the information that you need to help plan the Perfect Wedding Day!
